Miracle League Board Role Descriptions - Elected Positions

Director

  • 2-year term
  • Elected by the P.L.A.Y. Miracle League Board voting members OR elected/appointed by the P.L.A.Y. Executive Board.
  • Voting Member
  • Background Check Required

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, directs and advises all Board members
  • Appoints non-elected roles
  • Participates in league activities such as registration, publicity, coaching, special projects and fund-raisers
  • Organizes and maintains the structure for the league, facilitates all board meetings
  • Primary point of contact for the league
  • Works with the P.L.A.Y. Executive Board
  • Develops and maintains relationships with external partners, vendors, program contributors, media, etc…
  • Actively works to increase the number of players in the program
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, love, and concern for each player and family
  • Demonstrates high morals and integrity on and off the field

Treasurer

  • 2-Year Term
  • Elected by the P.L.A.Y. Miracle League Board
  • Voting Member
  • Background Check Required

Responsibilities

  • Works with P.L.A.Y. Executive Board for deposits all contributions into league bank account
  • Log all donations for tax purposes
  • Create Monthly Financials
  • Maintains copies of all league budgets
  • Attends all board meetings
  • Participates in league activities such as registration, publicity, coaching, special projects and fund-raisers
  • Communicates regularly with other board members
  • Assists in increasing the number of players in the program
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, love, and concern for each player and family
  • Demonstrates high morals and integrity on and off the field   

Athletic Program Manager

  • 2-year term
  • Elected by the P.L.A.Y. Miracle League Board voting members OR elected/appointed by the P.L.A.Y. Executive Board.
  • Voting Member
  • Background Check Required

Responsibilities

  • Works directly and sits on the P.L.A.Y. Executive Board
  • Oversees and advises financial, operational and organizational functions of the league
  • Creates and manages the Miracle League athletic program operational budget with P.L.A.Y.
  • Works alongside the Miracle League Director with the interactions with the national Miracle League Organization
  • The role is the bridge between the P.L.A.Y. Executive Board  and the Miracle League athletic offering
  • Actively works to increase the number of players in the program
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, love, and concern for each player and family
  • Demonstrates high morals and integrity on and off the field
  • This role does not have any direct oversight of other board members

 

Operations Manager

  • 2-Year Term
  • Elected by the P.L.A.Y. Miracle League Board
  • Voting Member
  • Background Check Required

Responsibilities

  • Creates equipment / maintenance budget for the league
  • Orders all league equipment
  • Manages equipment and field
  • Attends all board meetings
  • Participates in league activities such as registration, publicity, coaching, special projects and fund-raisers
  • Communicates regularly with other board members
  • Assists in increasing the number of players in the program
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, love, and concern for each player and family
  • Demonstrates high morals and integrity on and off the field

Miracle League Board Role Descriptions - APPOINTED Positions

Publicity And Social Media Manager

  • 2-Year Term
  • Appointed by the Miracle League Director
  • Voting Member

Responsibilities

  • Secures and maintains media contacts in local market
  • Communicates with local media to publicize league events
  • Coordinates with Miracle League Association on national media coverage
  • Obtains copies of print and TV coverage for league Secretary and the Miracle League Association
  • Coordinates advertising and marketing projects with Sponsorship Chairman and Fundraising Chairman
  • Manages posts to League’s social media presence and maintain league website
  • Attends all board meetings
  • Participates in league activities such as registration, publicity, coaching, special projects and fund-raisers
  • Communicates regularly with other board members
  • Assists in increasing the number of players in the program
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, love, and concern for each player and family
  • Demonstrates high morals and integrity on and off the field

Assistant Director

  • 2-year term
  • Elected by the P.L.A.Y. Miracle League Board
  • Voting Member
  • Background Check Required

Responsibilities

  • Assists and advises all Board members
  • Assists P.L.A.Y. Miracle League Director in league activities such as registration, publicity, coaching, special projects and fund-raisers
  • Attends all board meetings
  • Assists P.L.A.Y. Miracle League Director in communicating with members
  • Assists in increasing the number of players in the program
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, love, and concern for each player and family
  • Demonstrates high morals and integrity on and off the field
  • Desire to pursue the Director role.

Team Manager Coordinator

  • 2-Year Term
  • Appointed by the Miracle League Director
  • Voting Member

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates Team Manager activities and responds to their requests/issues
  • Creates trophy and team party budget for the league
  • Orders player trophies
  • Communicates team party budget information to Team Managers
  • Attends all board meetings
  • Participates in league activities such as registration, publicity, coaching, special projects and fund-raisers
  • Communicates regularly with other board members
  • Assists in increasing the number of players in the program
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, love, and concern for each player and family
  • Demonstrates high morals and integrity on and off the field

 

Team Coaches Manager

  • 2-Year Term
  • Appointed by Miracle League Director
  • Voting Member

Responsibilities

  • Oversees coaching staff to ensure Miracle League Rules and Regulations are being followed
  • Recruits potential head coaches and assistant coaches and assigns them to a team
  • Creates game schedules
  • Distributes copies of game schedules to all head coaches and board members
  • Calls and moderates coaches meetings
  • Attends all board meetings
  • Participates in league activities such as registration, publicity, coaching, special projects and fund-raisers
  • Communicates regularly with other board members
  • Assists in increasing the number of players in the program
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, love, and concern for each player and family
  • Demonstrates high morals and integrity on and off the field

Buddy Manager

  • 2-Year Term
  • Elected by the P.L.A.Y. Miracle League Board
  • Additional Assistant role to be elected as needed
  • Voting Member (Assistant is a non-voting member)
  • Background Check Required

Responsibilities

  • Oversees community campaign for generating buddies, through varies groups such as School Civil Groups, Church Youth Groups, Scouts, etc…
  • Meet with all buddies and assign each buddy with a Miracle League Player
  • Have Miracle League Buddy shirts ordered and ready for buddies prior to opening day
  • Have all buddies sign a volunteer form agreeing to attend each weekly game for the entire 6-8-10 week season
  • Review the following Buddy Responsibilities with each buddy;
  • To protect the Miracle League player at all times.
  • When hard hitter is hitting ball, “Buddies” is to step in front of the miracle League Player for protection.
  • Always allow the Miracle League Player as much freedom to play his/her own game as possible.
  • Be of good spirit, enthusiasm, love, attitude and concern in motivating the players and their families.
  • Become their friend; Get to know the players & their families.
  • Arrive at the field 30 minutes prior to game time.
  • Be properly dressed and clean with “Buddies” shirt.
  • “Angels in the Outfield.” Demonstrate high morals and Integrity on and off the field.
  • Encourage buddies to get to know their Miracle League player – if okay with parent, the buddy could call the Miracle League Player during the week to remind of game
  • Maintains database of buddies and their contact information
  • Attends all board meetings
  • Participates in league activities such as buddies, registration, publicity, coaching, special projects and fund-raisers
  • Communicates regularly with other board members
  • Assists in increasing the number of buddies in the program
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, love, and concern for each player and family
  • Demonstrates high morals and integrity on and off the field

Sponsorship Manager / Co-Manager

  • 2-Year Term
  • Appointed by the Miracle League Director
  • Additional Assistant role to be elected as needed
  • Voting Member (Co-Manager is a non-voting member)
  • Background Check Required

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and recruits potential league sponsors
  • Obtains signed sponsor agreements and contributions
  • Corresponds with existing sponsors to ensure their continued involvement
  • Maintains thorough understanding of existing sponsor agreements and ensures the details are executed as specified
  • Works with the Treasurer to ensure contributions are deposited properly
  • Sends ‘thank-you’ notes to sponsors and donors
  • Orders field signs, plaques, and/or other branding for sponsors
  • Attends all board meetings
  • Participates in league activities such as registration, publicity, coaching, special projects and fund-raisers
  • Communicates regularly with other board members
  • Assists in increasing the number of players in the program
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, love, and concern for each player and family
  • Demonstrates high morals and integrity on and off the field

Field Construction Manager

  • Initial term through field construction completion
  • Appointed by the Miracle League Director
  • Voting Member
  • Background Check Required

Responsibilities

  • Maintains vendor, partner and resource relationship for the construction of the field/playground
  • Identify vendors and create a vetting process to help identify contracts to accept
  • Creates construction budget for the league
  • Attends all board meetings
  • Participates in league activities such as registration, publicity, coaching, special projects and fund-raisers
  • Oversees maintenance of Miracle League field and complex
  • Communicates regularly with other board members
  • Assists in increasing the number of players in the program
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, love, and concern for each player and family
  • Demonstrates high morals and integrity on and off the field
